Teens aged 13-18 struggling with school avoidance
Originally from a small community in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where people often “tell it like it is,” Jenn is a former teacher of 13 years and has been a Registered Clinical Counsellor since 2022. Her professional experience in both the education and mental health care system provides a unique, outside-the-box perspective.
Jenn has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and school avoidance. Further, after years of working alongside children, youth, and families with complex needs, coupled with being a wife and sister in a RCMP family, Jenn is also passionate about supporting people who have experienced various forms of trauma, specifically educators who are experiencing mental health struggles due to compassion fatigue and workplace trauma. She is currently a Ph.D. student whose research focus explores the connection between mental health literacy and educator mental health.
Jenn’s forte is meeting people where they are and helping them recognize their gifts. If you have the courage to authentically face yourself and want to triumph over your struggles, Jenn could be a good fit in supporting you to meet your goals.
Her style is to-the-point and no-nonsense balanced with compassion, laughter, and (sometimes dark) humour. She uses a mixture of therapeutic approaches such as Person-Centred, Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural, and more.
